Since we ‘found this out’ we couldn’t lay it on – as to publicly announce and denounce this ‘something’ that had, awkwardly, for the past few years been widely identified as an experiment which influenced a humble, yet progressive notions in Jordan in terms of architecture, art, design, culture, research, experimentation and critique – but most importantly have inspired people, things – and us.
Interruptions rang within the city of Amman and echoed in neighboring Damascus, Beirut, Egypt – and extended internationally with contributors from all over the world and even lately celebrated in Denmark by displaying an installation made out of Noise Edition at Rum46 art space and have influenced friends in Germany to start a similar project, Blaupaus. The Network have also attracted tens of thousands of views from over twenty countries and Banana Edition has been downloaded over 5000 times and viewed almost ten thousand times. A total of 6000 copies of the different publication released by Interruptions were distributed for free in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon with copies sent to Egypt, Turkey, Dubai, UK, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Vienna and the US. (two recently given to Rem Koolhaas, few leaked to Coop Himmelb(l)au’s Library, some at Rum46 Denmark and few smuggled into London’s Tate Modern.)
For the past years, Interruptions had raped standardization, invented and killed one hundred ways of doing things and built an idiomatic parameter which it stayed true to. Now Interruptions abstracts itself into an idea which may be resurrected anytime in a different shape, content or structure. But for now it rests and it thanks the you/s, since Interruptions’ followers were a sum of individuals with interruptive tendancies.
